Hi, it's Andy | The NOTION Real Estate Guy,
Today I’m going to share some tips if you’ve dabbled with Notion, got comfortable with how it works and are now thinking of moving your Real Estate business over.
If this feels pretty overwhelming, don’t worry. There are a few ways to make it a lot more manageable and less stressful.
Migrations are a bit like moving house. You’ve got to pack up, chuck out the old, work out where to put stuff in the new, break some habits and ways of doing stuff.
There’s a lot to deal with. So keep reading if you’re ready to take the plunge but don't know how to get started.
Step 1: Get your Notion foundations right
A little bit of planning goes a long way, so my first recommendation would be to do a bit of preparation.
Think about what you’re going to use Notion for… are there some things you don’t want to move, and are there other things you’re not doing but would love to try in Notion?
Spend a bit of time thinking about how to set up Notion to do what you want.
What teamspaces, databases, pages, dashboards etc do you need?
You won’t necessarily build all this stuff from the start but it’s good to bear it in mind.
Plus consider the future, not just the here and now.
You don’t want to have to do this all over again in six months time when something big changes in your business…!
Step 2: Start small
One of the simplest ways to use Notion is to store information like contact details, documents, property info etc.
Start out simple like this. A lot of migrating to a new tool is building new habits.
Get used to using your Notion workspace to find info.
Over time it'll become a habit and Notion will be the first thing you open every day…
Step 3: Use other people’s time and knowledge
You don’t need to know and build it all.
I would highly recommend starting with Notion templates. I’ve just released a Notion Real Estate Investor Starter Bundle (check out the info below).
And a consultant can fast track your set up by identifying problem areas, answering questions and getting you set up quickly.

Step 4: Focus on one small key win
Storing info in Notion is great for building a new habit, but it may not solve an immediate problem.
That’s where this step comes in.
Pick a problem you think Notion will be able to fix quite quickly, that’s causing you frustration or issues right now. Get a quick win out of the way (especially if you need to convince colleagues or others about how amazing Notion is!)
For example:
tracking meeting notes and agreed tasks
following up with property owners or estate agents
tracking the progress of property purchase
managing a refurb timeline
Build this in Notion (or ask me to help ;-)) and start to build confidence in Notion and it’s ability to add value to your business
Step 5: Onboard team members
The real power of Notion comes through collaboration with others, and Notion has many features for this.
Onboarding them and building confidence with your team is a big part of migrating to Notion.
To do this, I would recommend similar steps to the above, namely:
creating new habits
building confidence
one step at a time
seek out quick wins
Using Notion is a bit different to other productivity tools and therefore getting them used to the blocks and pages way of working takes a bit of time.
However, it will be worth it!
Other Tips
be careful of making things unnecessarily complicated
start small and expand
continually get feedback and improve
tweak as you go
For help with this, feel free to book a call and I’ll do what I can to help.
p.s. in just over two weeks time I’m launching an amazing, one of a kind service to help you do just what I’ve covered today, so keen an eye out!
